    Replacing/upgrading Defender Doors

    Hi all

The doors in my 1998 300Tdi 130 HCPU are not the best - frames have rust (which I have controlled with copious amounts of lanotec), the skins have dents and the door cards are torn.

I have been contemplating replacing the lot. Ideally I would like to upgrade to power windows and central locking at the same time.

Is it just a matter of hunting down a later model (Puma?) wreck and use these doors, or should I just buy new replacement doors and fit aftermarket central locking and power windows? The issue with buying aftermarket is that they are a bare door and I will need to swap over glass, seal, handle, lock, install central locking/power windows etc (labour intensive)

    I found these:

    GALVANISED LAND ROVER DOORS

I sent an email asking for a quote on freight for the galvanised steel framed/aluminium skined doors.

    Cheers

Maybe get a set of puma doors.
    These are galvanised

There was a set recently sold for $500 on eBay. Near chatwood nsw. Four doors plus bonnet.

    Cheers

When you say they’re galvanised, do you mean the whole door or just the skin?

I know this because I remove the door carb to fix some electric issues...

Doors are not hot dipped but just the cold galvanised that is pretty standard in modern cars. it made me warn and fuzzy....
    When I discovered the coating....

    Cheers

TD5 rear door on 90s were steel frame steel skin. The Tdci has all steel frame and steel skin doors. Not hot dip gal but a zinc coating of sorts. By all reports they are good. Id still prefer the aluminium skins. Just Gal the steel frames .

Stainless steel door hardware is NOT a good idea
