Did you bleed the fuel system? Also, the little return valve in the fuel filter head caused me similar issues until I replaced it (assuming it is a Td5!).

Serviced the car, start first time as it always does, did it 3 times checking oil levels and me just having to turn it off to sort something out.
Car then died less than 1km from home, won't start, almost half a tank, fuel return hose from FPR is pumping out fuel, fuel pump working.
It's fuel related, but can't for the life of me figure out what it is.
Service also included a sump gasket change, but can't see how that would change anything!

Is it Td5 if so and you did the fuel filter ? did you prime / bleed it and also just check the old fuel filter and make sure the old rubber gasket did not stay behind on the housing as this can cause running issues

Yeah did all those things, had an hour to wait for the tow truck, and didn't call him for an hour as well.
Did the fuel prime system more than any same man should!
And it didn't even fart, cough or sneeze so my assumption is electronic and not fuel, or CPS, but will be having a few beers and then pulling it apart to see.
TD5
Some suggestions
1) The fuel pump runs?
2) Is the fuel pump noisy?
3) If you serviced the air filter did you knock the collision sensor? maybe just reset it
4) If the fuel pump is noisy have you left an o ring on the filter housing when you put the new filter on?
5) Do you have a Nanocom and if so what codes is it showing?
6) Maybe check the CPS plug and wiring
7) Confirm battery voltages are OK
8) Is the engine check light on?
Its a TD5 its not complicated the only things that can stop it are an issue with the CPS signal (Nanocom will show this)
Triggered collision sensor (I dont think it will crank though) absence of fuel or air in the fuel.
Absence of air (didnt leave a rag in the air intake did you?)
Failed ECU (unlikely)
Sometimes a crook starter motor can cause a dirty signal to the CPS this will not enable it to start but wont make it just stop (you can usually tow start it)

Fuel pump runs, and is the same level of noisy as it always has been. As before, no O ring left on and fuel getting through, no sound of air being taken out of the fuel system, opened the return line at the FPR and it flowed out, so not thinking it is fuel related.
Ordered a new CPS so once it arrives tomorrow I will pop it in. It hasn't thrown any codes, but have read that if it just fails it can fail without the code. If it doesn't start after that will at least have a spare.
I have had a fuel pump die on me before (replaced about 2.5 years ago or so) and it will at least cough and chug a bit.
This seems like it's electronic. And yep, I depressed the switch on the firewall.
If it isn't the CPS I am all out of ideas, and will have to just order new fuel pumps, lines etc but it doesn't seem like it is the issue.
