Stay with the original 130 shocks and just change them out when stuffed, cost effective.
Hi all,
Currently running Old Man emu's sports with the matching 2" coils ( think they call it the long travel kit ) pin to pin on every shock with 255/85/16 BFG ,constant load 500kg springs (3066) and there recommended shocks to match ..
Problem is when I load it up for a trip with the draws, fridges, canopy and roof top tents... 15 min on the corrugations it's horrible ..
Back home with every thing out , swapped out the coils for the lightest 30mm OME ones and matching shocks and to be honest it doesn't ride to bad around town.. but useless for trips..
I'm now prepping for another trip so I'm thinking about something thats adjustable so maybe a Fox or Koni raid's and considering using airbag coil helpers instead of the crazy heavy load springs...
any thoughts
Cheers
CJ

When I'm here I want to be out there.
Hi CJ
I have a very similar setup, OMEs front and rear and pin to pin in the rear. I had Koni Raids before that and I found them way too harsh the corrugations on my last Simpson trip. The OMEs are the opposite; they are very comfortable on tarmac and offroad unless the car is loaded up.
Rather than trying to find the ideal shock (maybe adjustable for all load scenarios), I went for Firestone helper airbags in the rear and I am happy with them so far.
Cheers
Joachim
