From memory , there is a steel clip inside the head rest stem . It protudes out eather side of the stem and stops the stem moving past the seat frame . You can manipulate it with long nose pliers so that the protruding points close in and the stem can pass the seat frame. Or you can just brute force it up and out .

    Thanks.....

So it’s just that little slither of silver I can see in the pic.

I have read on the web that brute force sometimes works.

Yep...I reefed one out before I understood that it was the little tab, not rust keeping, them in.

Headrests on TD5 Front Seats - Help with removing them

    Progress

Once seat was removed from defer I notice the OEM trim is secured by a zip lock looking plastic, i pried these apart

Than with a torch I could see what fubar posted a pic of......

I grabbed a pair of long nose pliers and slid my hand up the inside of the trim, pulled the offended little stopper and removers the headrest.

    Stopper in its location

Removed for good......holding onto it while I wait my insurance companies response, just want to make sure it doesn’t void insurance.

Oh, I guess brute force could work but I did want to risk damaging anything......given the money we paid for the new seat covers I didn’t want to be repairing the seat as well.
