    What is this bracket for?

    I have this random bracket. Not really in the road but what's it for? RHS engine bay below Power steering reservoir. See photo.

    Not sure what the bracket is for but you seem to have a lot of space there. No a/c?

    Having said that I can see the compressor!

    That's the bracket for the nuclear power converter. They weren't fitted for the Australian market due to a "no nukes policy" and concern regarding performance in front end accidents. I believe perhaps only available in the Ukraine market of the time.

    But to be serious for a moment - did it perhaps have some aftermarket intercooler or something fitted there once?

    It does not look factory. Edges/corners look too sharp. Not needed
