Biddy's had a hissy fit.

All the following assumes a working security system. If that’s gone feral, even your EKA wouldn’t work...

Before I got my EKA out of LR Malaysia (which those who have read other posts would know involved LR replacing my whole security system including instrument module and PLIPS because the model 10AS used in models to 2013/4 is no longer available .... but I digress: )

...before getting my EKA I bought a Nanocom EVO as it apparently has the ability to turn off/on the immobiliser. Was intending to do so before any jungle trip. Unfortunately the Nanocom never worked as advertised for me either.

All said: Billy, even if you had your EKA it likely won’t help your current situation.

Just be be prepared for the possibility that if the 10AS is faulty - you may be up for more than just a replacement of that one part.

Hi Dazza, do you know anyone in Melbourne can disable the immobilizer for my 2.4 puma? Or anyone with some sort of special instrument can do it.

I think I can recall reading somewhere amongst the write-ups on the Nanocom that they will only let you turn off an immobiliser that is not currently armed. The obvious reason for this, is that anyone wanting to steal a Rover would simply need a Nanocom, in order to drive off with it. I don't know if the dealers have the ability to disable them whilst they are active - I would guess not, considering the amount of problems people have had with them over the years.

That's correct Neil. I knew the EKA would be no use. I was just afraid that I would start a loud commotion that I couldn't stop.

Here's the latest: They rang me this morning to say they'd found the problem. A pinched wire in the cargo door had blown the fuse to the immobiliser. "Oh great." I said "That's an easy fix." The problem is that I've heard nothing since. I suspect that the pinched wire wasn't the problem after all.

Stand by for the next instalment.

Well, yes it was. The wiring is repaired, the fuse replaced and Biddy is behaving normally.
Cost: $450.00. Disco Sport to drive in the interim, and a free wash........Well we all know there's no such thing as a free wash. Ask any Pom.
So I suppose There's a lesson here: Put wiring looms in your routine check list if it isn't already there. Carry a comprehensive swag if fuses.
Had I had the time on the day I would have fixed it myself, had I not assumed the worst, but I suppose the urgency made me choose the easy option.

Thats relatively painless then.... Glad its sorted!

Thanks Neil. Yes I was quite relieved as it turned out. I was a bit disappointed in myself for not investigating further, but given that my situation was urgent, I can find it in my heart to forgive myself.

Just out of interest where is the immobiliser fuse located, under dash or under seat

Fuses are: F6 F7 F8. 6 and 7 are under the drivers seat and 8 is under the dash above the peddles.
