    Defender raised shock mounts.

    Hi everyone.
I was wondering what experiences people have had with different manufacturers of defender raised shock mounts?
The ones i need are raised 50mm.
The rear ones need to be pin, bottom. Eye, top.
All the rear ones i can find are LOWERED...

Might need a it more info on what you’re trying to do.....

You may need to adjust the bumpstops as well.

If you haven’t purchased your shocks than you might have more options of mounts by converting the top to pin....

Maybe contact Ben at APT as he does aftermarket front and rear shock mounts.

Most of us that used longer shocks modified the towers ourselves, and how far really does depend on the open and closed length of the shock you are using.

50mm is a fair bit, are you going to 12" travel shocks?
I was running 10" travel Koni's and needed less than 1/2" extra height, which maximised my droop travel.
If your car is a Tdi the coolant expansion tank is in the way of lifting the shocks that far so that would have to be moved.

The lowered mount is very much a UK thing for maximising the travel on a standard travel shock.

BTW, I was running 11" travel dampers on the rear with standard mounts.
The worst part is the operating angle of the stock mount is all wrong, so replacements are a good idea.

If Ben at APT is unable to help, try here:

But like others have said - measure shock open and closed lengths first then determine if mounting locations need to be different. Try to stay away from the lowering shock idea as this severely limits up travel. You will need extended bump stops as well.

    Hi everyone
    Thankyou all for your help.

I thought i might share my experience with you all regarding my 110 suspension
Springs are standard 130 springs (single spring rear). Hose clamps retain the rear springs. No need to retain front.

Shockies are koni long travel from LRA. 4days postage Melbourne to Brisbane. To get these to fit i ended up modifying the standard shock towers. For the front i extended the towers 45mm. The rear i made an adapter plate with 12mm flat bar that moved the bracket up 55mm

I also lashed out and got superior superflex arms as well as their rear trailing arms.(easy to fit. I couldn't for the life of me make 12months for radius arm bushes or trailing arm bushes (genuine rubber). I now have superpro panhard bushes.

Have some spare hose clamps in your cubby or tool box, you'll be breaking then quite a bit, or at least I used to.

Eventually you'll probably make a plate up to retain them.

You'll need a wide angle front prop or DC shaft too, it'll bind the uni at the t/case end at full droop.
