Long range tank protection (110 Long Ranger)

    Hi all,

Was wondering if any of you have any experience with protection for the Long Ranger 120L tank?

Have now smashed some decent sized dents into it on the last two trips (plus bent sway bar mount and rear corner!) and super thankful it seems to be tough as nails on its own. All the same I'd prefer not to have it too heavily smashed up!

Short of putting a lift on it (know the issues with the lift etc but likely will do a lift down the line) does anyone know of any way to protect? Any custom fuel tank bash plates perhaps?

Pics of dents and bent sway mount

    Cheers

    Gus

Probably bit late now, for an extra $150 long ranger weld a second skin on the tank. As yours is painted it still could be done but would require stripping the paint.

Thanks (again) MLD! Indeed what they are sorting out for me. Couple of hundred and they will strip the paint, smooth out the dings as much as necessary, weld on a new plate and paint. Great service.

I will post pics if anyone is interested post repairs

I guess, the tank has to be removed from the vehicle to do this. I'm asking because I have the same issue.

Yes it does - they will do for you if you leave car with them.

Can't transport tank that's had fuel in it also (obvious liability issues) so unless you are within cooee of Newcastle might be a bit difficult.

Thanks. I will give them a call to see what they charge. They could adjust my sender arm and fix the leak at the top corner at the same time .
