						Hi,
I've just picked up a spare lt85 for my County that's in great condition (recent rebuild). At this stage its going to be a long term/hoarding spare. Just wondering what people's thoughts are for the best way to store it long term so I don't find it full of rust when the day comes to use it. I was thinking along the lines of putting in the correct amount of ATF, cling-wrap it and rotate it once a year.
Any opinions of a better grade of oil / method for storage ?
Cheers,
Mark
p.s. I live along the coast, the airs a bit corrosive here.

Throw it in the scrap bin, you don't have to worry about it then. Hahaha
Just joking - as said just fill it right up with oil and lube the input shaft and preferably wrap the splines in greaseproof paper or similar.

Agreed on fillerup
When I was doing similar a whiles back I found the cheapest
Oil was a 20L drum of miscellaneous hydraulic fluid from a farm supply
You’ll find the box will swallow a lot more oil when full to the top
Splines either grease and wrap or just wrap with denso tape

Thanks for the advice (other than throwing it away)... Don't some of the hydraulic fluids develop corrosive properties over time ? That may be old motor oil I'm think of ? I hadn't considered filling it right up. Certainly saves on frequent turning.
Thanks

Use an agricultural hydraulic oil as used in tractor hydraulics. These contain a rust inhibitor as tractors tend to spend long periods without use.
