Injector pump to tweak or not?

So here is the scenario: I had some leaking fuel from injector pump and lift pump and had it sent off to have seals and so on done. The lift pump was replaced. Anyway, they will send it back restored to factory setting. It had been previously tweaked and in combination with front mount intercooler, seemed to liven up the 300tdi quite well. So here is my problem, do I keep the reconditioned pump standard and hope for longevity etc. Or find a landrover specialist to tune it for me? I feel like the previous setting offered a pretty big improvement in driveabilty.

Tweak it yourself, it isn't hard to do. Just carefully note the settings you started at. Plenty of guides on the net. Example:

I was told about a quarter of a turn - does that sound right?

I had a local indie do mine......based on experience of turn this turn than, good performance increase but bellowed smoke....a second attempt less smoke less performance higher EGT’s

Sure plenty do the home tune and test it up that local hill and are happy enough.

I ended up getting it dyno tuned......science applied, readings, figures and the outcome was perfect.

I think the first steps in that guide is all that had been done before. (The diaphragm gap height and plunger position.) Iooks straight forward enough i guess. Only thing I couldn't really make out, was exactly where to make those measurements for the diaphragm height adjustment..

So i guess the other aspect of my post is weather or not it's really worth it. Does it improve off road performance is my concern. It's always going to be a slug on the highway (where i rarely am anyway)

I found most improvement was on the hi-way...in QLD we have to do a lot of K’s to get to somewhere interesting. At the time, family of five, defer at GVM, 1.5T camper trailer.....I really enjoyed the extra performance on the hi-way as I used to belt along.......off road I.e. low range never really noticed.
