Just after everybody's thoughts.
I have two 2.2 Pumas here one with the engine out and the other with the gearbox out and I have found in both the pilot bearings are shot.
Both have roughly 105,000 km on the clock. Both are standard in regards to mods.
Those not familiar with the Pumas they have a needle roller pilot bearing.
In my defender the failed pilot bearing has caused considerable wear to the input shaft on the gearbox.
I have been trying to source a sintered bronze pilot bush to no avail.
I have ordered a length of sintered bronze to make my own.
Has anybody else encountered this problem?
