    1999 TD5 Extreme A/C Compressor

After spending $1350 getting my A/C working beautifully, after three days it died due to leaking compressor. I am on the hunt for one (Roverparts had one but when they checked it found it was not good enough to sell) and may have found a Delco that suits but I suspect it is not equivalent to the one used on Australian Defenders.

I can't find any info on mine re manufacturer or model number. If anyone knows them can you please let me know.

    Thanks, Howard

If it is the same as mine it will be a Denso unit, cant remember the number maybe HP15? There is usually a small plate on the back or the belly of the compressor or a stamp.
Look at the OEX catalogue via Ashdown Ingrahm. If there is not one in there they should be able to source one. If not Denso Australia can, check their website. Also try Cooldrive, I do know they have parts and compressors as have bought LR compressor parts from them recently. I am also pretty sure these compressors can be rebuilt as a last resort if a new one is not available. I know when looking at my sons new compressors and parts and seals were available but that was for a D2 V8.
I do know here they can be expensive. In the US you can get one for about $230 USD and about $100USD freight. We were looking at this before we got a good second hand one.

    Try this link

Should be Cooldrive number CM8089 or CM5847 page 145

    Strangy

Just watched the video. Seems a great solution. I will pull the compressor and check it out to be sure what model it is and then either repair or buy a replacement and repair the old one as a spare.
