Ashcroft ATB Center Diff for 2013 PUMA

Is been said before, but it needs saying again! I've just installed an Ashcroft ATB (Automatic Torque Bias) centre diff in my 2013 110. To say that it completely transforms the truck to drive, is an understatement. I also installed a Ashcroft adaptor shaft for the gearbox to Tx case drive.

My driveline backlash was particularly bad for a new truck, so the difference is very noticeable.

The splines on the adaptor shaft were also flogged.

To anyone who has a PUMA, I really recommend this modification. Very pleasing.....

I agree great mod. Did mine as well. Worth it for the massive reduction in drive train slack, the atb function was almost a bonus.

Much better when driving on loose gravel or when reversing trailers full of fire wood.

Any Defender, regardless of engine drives better with an ATB as the centre diff.

I purchased a rear Ashcroft locker as well as the ATB centre diff, and the Ashcraft gearbox adaptor shaft. Cost me $3200 delivered, and cost me $1000 at Tamworth ARB NSW to have it all installed. I could have done it myself, but the lazies(not a real word) and some warranty convinced me to spend the money!

Can't say it enough, but this mod is really worth it!

Does anybody have any firsthand experience of a Ashcroft gearbox adaptor shaft failing?

not heard of it. Just laid eyes on my adaptor that has been in for 18 months and flogged (getting transfer rebuilt). No sign of wear and looks new. The ATB and new 1.1:1 high range gears look good. the gearbox specialist complemented the workmanship.

Just curious here..... but when u have an ATB Centre Diff installed plus u have F&R Diff Locks as well, what happens when u go offroading and use LowRange w/o locking in your Centre Diff?

I'm assuming it would behave as if u had your centre Diff locked.... even if u lifted a wheel?
