    Fuel delivery into tank

I have had this problem ever since I've had my 1996 300tdi defender, which is whenever I go to fill it up, the pump at the servo just clicks out.
I have to stand there for a good 10 minutes to get 50 odd litres in.
I have tried searching for why this is the case and have no idea, can anyone shed some light?

Try lifting up the pump a few millimetres and see if it works. It's the same on my Defender. I think there is some kind of auto cutout.

    Fuel breather

Check to make sure the tank breather hose is not kinked.
Also check it doesn't have a low point on breather hose. If fuel is allowed to stay in breather hose it can't breath correctly making the escaping air try to go past the fuel your putting in.
