    1995 Defender 130 front brakes - what to get

    Need to do some work on the front brakes on the 130

    need to get new caliper pistons and seals

    new rotors -

    which type are best ... drilled and slotted or ?

    which brand are currently the best ?

    best place to get them ?

    looking for good stopping power when pulling the van etc etc

    Definitely not drilled discs.
    Slotted are good.
    DBA or Delios for rotors.

    Re pads, TRW/Lucas are a good standby for a 130 but talk to QFM on the Goldy what they have available for your backing plates.
    Their 4wd ceramic pad is supposedly very good, I'm running a custom compound on the D2 with a really high Mu (friction coefficient) and 800° temp resistance, but they are exxy as they are a race compound.

    Not a 130 but I’ve always had a good run with OEM rotors and pads.....

    Apparently you need brakes on trailers over 750kg......this save the brakes on the tug.

    I recently did my 110. Calipers rebuilt, new braided hoses, RDA slotted gen III discs and genuine pads. Noticeable improvement in both feel and braking. Have done a few thousand Km's towing the Tvan including down a few steep descents with no noticeable fade. I think the braided lines probably had the most impact on brake feel.

    I have DBA slotted, cross drilled and vented front discs using genuine Landrover pads, plus braided hoses. Was a huge improvements over standard on my 1998 130Tdi. On the back it is just standard Landrover solid/vented discs and genuine Landrover pads plus the brake hose is braided.

    The standard Landrover Defender calipers work well, so might just be worth putting new seal kits through them.

    I am just about to replace the brake booster as mine has a crack near the where the master cylinder bolts onto it, so might be worth checking yours.

    Have been using Bendix 4x4 and Heavy Duty brake pads for a long time, they are good quality and they last.
