Defender 130 1996 front drive shaft is this a problem?
Howdy
Well I had an unhappy Wednesday. Found one of my swivel bearings had collapsed causing the front tyre to scrub out down to canvas in a matter of moments.
Got it home stripped it down and now wondering what I am up for.

Is the worn bit in this photo an important bit? The machined bit is OK just next to it is not?
Also inside the Swivel housing there is a machined section next to the seal that has a couple of matching scrapes?

The machined section is for the seal which is ok.
Can or should I try to grind out the raised bits in the swivel housing and re-use both bits?
The rest of it all looks OK
Thanks
James

Clean up the ball with a lathe or grinder but would not use the axle as they are crap at the best of times
