Thread: Banded WOLF rims

I thought banding was illegal in Australia - I thought that getting the centre taken out and then put back in with a different offset is legal as far as wheel modifications were concerned or taking the centre out and putting it back in a wider rim was also legal but I thought banding was off limits here.

AFAIK those are the rules in NSW. No banding. When i tried to do it a few years back i was flatly told "Nup I won't do it" by every wheel mob i contacted.

I was chatting to Ben @ APT, his wolf rims have had the centre cut out flipped and re-welded to a bigger off set.

I got a price for 6 but buggered if I can remember the final figure. Wasn’t cheap

Flipping the centre sounds like a good option, anyone know where I could get this done in NSW?

Neales Wheels in Sydney might be able to do it - as will Eastern wheels in melbourne.

Thanks for the advice, I have sent out half a dozen emails to different custom wheel shops, so lets see what comes back.

What are your thoughts if the wheels are modified do i then get hot dip gal followed by powder coat or just sandblast and powder coat? This is my longterm project / forever truck so not concerned with saving a few $$ hear and there - looking for super robust quality and longevity.

Is your main turning-circle concern for off-road or on-road? I find mine liveable on-road after maxing out the steering stops, but it's sometimes a pain in offroad situations, taking 3 bites at switchbacks or not having the maneouvrability to get around obstacles. I think fiddle brakes would be a good solution.
