    2004 110 TD5 SMF conversion

    Hi,

i'm preparing to upgrade my clutch in my td5 to go with the bigger intercooler and remap. truck is used more for rock crawling and long expeditions. i've read a few threads about SMF conversions but nothing recent. can anyone chime in with a long-term opinion having had one? i don't care about chatter at idle. i have a VW TDI with a SMF and i love it. the VW DMF's are garbage.

    thanks for the help!

    IMHO...

If you want it to be a rattly **** heap and rattle the gearbox to ****, then thats the only reason to go to a solid flywheel.

Every one I have ever come across is rubbish.

Interesting. So, what clutch would you recommend for a stage 2 tune Dazz?

Specifically I was looking at the LOF brand - Land Rover Heavy Duty Clutch kit for Defender Discovery and Td5, Tdci,

*Customers that have wanted a better setup have gone with Exceedy clutch kits, they have a good rep and I've never had issues with quality.
*"stage 2" mostly to me is a marketing blurb used be re-mappers, there is no industry standard for "stage" anything maps, so its a variable that can't be put into a "this works with a stage 2 map"
*Sometimes people just want to change something that works for no actual benefit, as in there are threads around about putting duel mass flywheels in the Defender TDCi (puma).
*a TD5 with a good quality duel mass flywheel and clutch kit will be long lasting, reliable and a smooth setup.
