    300TDI Turbo Lag

    Hey Team,

After going away on the weekend I thought I would address a problem I have been neglecting for a while.
I have a 95 300TDI which is pretty slow to say the least, but my main issue is that between going up the gears I fall out of 'boost' and it has zero go.
Turbo doesn't spool till 2000rpm, i there any way of adjusting this?

    Cheers

    The short answer is yes

Are you adept in the art of monkey wrenching or looking for a solution that involves
    Buck-a-dollar injection?

Where are you located on this spinning lump of magma?

Wind in the smoke screw on top of boost compensator to a point you can tolerate (in terms of smoke trail pre boost).

Every little helps so, adjust your valve clearances (tappets) if you've never done it.

    Standard gearing, larger tyres?

Yep, larger tyres have done this.
I'll have a play tomorrow and see where it is currently adjusted.
I feel as though the smoke screw may already be wound in as there is already soot in between gears.
Open to ideas as still waiting on EGT gauge to rock up, so will be experimenting once I have installed this.

    Cheers

If you have a good amount of smoke already, more fuel pre boost probably wont help.

What mods are you running from standard, post a pic of your deefer?

Under the hood it is fairly stock but I have replaced a lot of parts, bar turbo/intercooler.
It drives well but I feel if boost came in at 1800rpm it would make it a lot more enjoyable

Shift later. The gears are close enough that you should not need to drop below 2000 rpm when you need power.
