    Defender TD5 Tacho - Pin 19

I am trying to fit a new genuine TD5 tacho (P/N YAE100790) to a 2003 Defender 90 TD5. All the threads I have seen on this indicate that I just need to splice the white/green wire (ignition 12V supply), black wire (earth) from instrument loom, red/orange and black from instrument illumination and to get an input signal, run a wire to the black ECM plug pin 19 which is supposed to be unused/empty.
My problem is the ECM black plug (C0658-19) pin 19 has a yellow/pink (Y/K) wire that appears to connect to the ECU-ABS (C0504-11). Do I just need to splice in to this or will that stuff up my ECM or ECU-ABS electrickery? Has anyone else come across this?

This was discussed in a previous thread here:
    Defender TD5 Tachometer Installation

You are right, you should be able to simply splice in. It is tacho pulses from the ECU to the ABS; Generated by the ECU and both Tacho and ABS inputs should be high impedance "reading" the pluses, they should not interfere with each other.

Thanks very much for the confirmation and link. I am obviously loosing my touch having searched for install tutes but didn't find any with that crucial detail. Of course now I search and they are everywhere!

    Cheers

Anyone know specifcally how to connect a TD5 tacho to a 300Tdi? (no ECU obviously!)
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Tricky! Perhaps make life easy and flog the TD5 tacho and buy a new VDO tacho for the same price and connect to the alternator. This may help Rev Counter - 300Tdi - Defender Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum
Had you been a couple of weeks earlier I would have been happy to oblige. A new TD5 tacho costs an arm and a leg so I am sure someone will be happy to take it off your hands.
