Got Muddies? My Hankooks do a similar thing now that they are worn.

Hi good people.
I am new to AULRO. I have owned my Defender for a few years now and have racked up some kms during a lap around Oz.
Bit of context re vehicle:
2006 Defender Td5 110
320,000km
Disco transfer case added
ecu remap to increase power to 125kW
I recently heard a new sound while driving on the highway. At around 90km/hr if I back off the accelerator to slow down I hear an obvious shudder/vibration sound from under the vehicle. It doesn't sound pretty and happens consistently when travelling 90km/hr or above.
Anyone else experienced this?Any thoughts on the cause???
Many thanks
Shaun

						a few thoughts
- dry/worn universals
- loose flange bolts
- dry/worn splines
- dry/worn front swivel hubs.
- low transfer case oil
probably a few more. Tyres are also a good comment as previously indicated if they have not been rotated and worn on a wedge pattern.
Handbrake shoes sticking slightly.

Based on my experience,as you back off the throttle, the driveline gets to a "zero torque" situation, & at this point any backlash in the driveline will show up as a "thrashing" sound from under the vehicle. It is normally only slight, but worn components in the driveline will make it worse.
In my case it was becoming quite noticeable, but was improved considerably after upgrading all axles (HiTuff at rear, Ashcroft at front), which reduced the backlash in the driveline.
There will always be some backlash, so a small amount of noise is OK.
A previous post gives a good list of thngs to check in the driveline if the noise is excessive.
Cheers,
Lionel
