    110 Defender.

    Hi all,

Been a bit busy lately. But I have found a 110 Defender which is a 300Tdi for a really good price in South Australia.

Anything in particular I need to look for or ask about in regards to the car?

A big thing I found when looking around for my County and my son's 110 was rust in the door bottoms, firewall and rust in the chassis. I've driven hours to look at 'rust free' examples only to find that there was pretty much just paint holding the chassis together. Personally if its really well priced and drives well but has a solid chassis I would take a gamble on the rest of the mechanicals if you're handy with a spanner.

Yes, pull up the carpet or mats and look for rust, particularly in the footwells. Also in the boot floor and chassis generally. Is the roof leaking?
Has the timing belt been done at least every 80,000ks?
Is the cooling system okay? The 300tdi is pressurised, so if it's not holding pressure the coolant may not have cooled the top of the engine.
Have all the filters been changed regularly?
