    TDI 300 over fuelling.

    Hi
The Defender l'm looking at is over fuelling. Probably from the home done pin and ring mod to to FIP. Does anyone no any wear in Sydney that can tune it. Or reverse the mod or do an exchange unit.

How do you “know” it’s over fuelling
Just adjusting the aneroid only really changes the fuel delivery vs boost curve
To “over fuel” the Bosch rotary FIP requires you to adjust the main fuel screw ?

If you are just seeing some black on low boost chances are it has been adjusted for early bite.

If you have high EGTs on low throttle settings I’d look at timing as much as the pump?

Tuning a 300TDI is not rocket science

Get the timing set right via dial gauge on the fuel plunger.
Then with a boost gauge and EGT follow one of the many Bosch rotary pump guides.

I’d argue with a clear head and plenty of time you’ll do a better job than 95% of grease monkies who just want to swing cars through the service bay....

    No offence to grease monkies
