    Importing Ashcroft gear

I have read lots of threads from years ago so I'm asking has anyone recently (last few months) imported trans, and how smoothly did it go? Are DHL great or a nightmare to deal with? Customs/quarantine issues? I'm about to order a R380/LT230 for my defender. I came up with a cunning plan to reduce their core charges. I bought a complete transmissions in the UK and had it sent to Ashcroft. Dave ok'd it as I had emailed about it. Might help Disco owners more so as Deefer stuff seems to be harder to find due to them requiring like for like. I saved $140, not a lot but better that nothing. I'm ordering the LT230 with an ATB as I bought one ages ago and no one here will fit it for me, so it just sits in the cupboard along with a full shim and rebuild kit. More money spent for no reason. I live in a black hole for mechanical knowledge it seems.

I purchased a transfere and a few other bits and pieces about 6 months ago. After payment it arrived in Aust within the week. Sat at customs for 2 days so I rang them, payed duty and arrived at door a few days later. Under 2 weeks from payment to delivery to Perth. Quicker than most things I order from over east.
