Bolts for trackrod guard..... thread etc?

    Hey folkses,

Just a very quick question. Would anybody have the details of the bolts which attach the trackrod guard on a 1992 Defender to the front diff housing? What thread/size are they? Length?

    Thanks very much.

    John

Bruce Gardner, B.S.F Bolts tel.0408 066 255 is the man to see. He is in Melbourne and does mail orders. If you want to make your own I can supply BSF taps and dies.

The average bolt shop worker was not born when BSF and BSC were last in common use. Ask for British Standard Cycle fasteners and you get blank looks and a "What's that?"

Hey Bigbjorn - thanks very much for this info, and even more for your offer of the taps and dies. I can't take you up on your kind offer, as I am in the UK at the moment and collecting a few much-needed parts (including replacing a stolen trackrod guard) before (hopefully) being reunited with my Defender in Tanzania in a handful of weeks. I'm sure I will be able to find bolts with the right thread somewhere here now.

    Cheers,

    John

As I was advised by an ex-JRA engineer, ditch it and fit a HD tie rod.

The stock piece of spaghetti just bends and jams in the channel.
There's a reason the ADF Perenties didn't have it fitted.

Thanks, Rick. Yep, I'd like to do that but can't really take one with me when I return to the car's location.

    Cheers,
