Soooo, at the risk of opening a can of worms, does the Puma gearbox need a GL-4 or GL-5 spec oil? On their product selector app, Penrite recommend Progear 75w-90, GL-5 spec.

I know this is an old thread, but I have just ordered a rebuilt MT 82 gearbox for my 2009 Transit with 2.4 Puma engine. The gearbox rebuilders specify ATF DEX III Mineral Gearbox oil, changed after initial 1000 klms. All the Ford related sites seem to refer to synthetic oils (they also seem to refer to mind-boggling prices, compared to $40-odd for 4 litres from Repco or Supercheap.
    Anyone care to comment?

I’d say they’re using it as “running in oil” and wouldn’t be putting it back in after 1000km
