Firstly, welcome - sorry you've joined under less than perfect circumstances...
An initial guess: when these engines give problems with no DTCs it can be due to the VCV getting old. Do you know if the VCV has been replaced, and if so how long ago?
My first post on here so please go easy on me. I'm not the most mechanically minded and have searched the forum already for a solution to my problem with no luck so far.
I recently drove my 110 Puma 2.4L 2011 from Canberra to Brisbane after just having her serviced. I drove into Warwick at about the 1,100km mark and the engine stopped at the lights while on idle. I let her cool down and checked the oil before getting her going again. She stalled on me a few more times before getting to Brisbane. I then took her straight to a LR specialist to get her looked at as I couldn't diagnose the issue myself. The guy I took her to was able to recreate the problem so realised I wasn't making it up. No errors were thrown on the diagnostic and I left her with him to work it out.
I just got called after the Christmas break and was told he has driven her about 20kms and the issue has not re-occurred. He can't diagnose the problem and is at a loss to work out what originally caused the issue.
Has anyone had something similar occur and can suggest what a possible cause could be?

Also, has your fuel filter down near the fuel tank been changed? If it's clogged it could prevent the fuel flow. The 2.4s don't have a fuel pump in the tank to push the fuel through.
Shortly after I bought mine the fuel filter split and dumped fuel in the carport. Turned out it was the original filter and had not been changed in 80,000 kms.
Just a thought.
Don’t rule out the ignition switch Pumas are very susceptible to intermittent ignition switch issues
Thanks Mick. That occurred to me as well as I filled the tank from country locations while bushfires were on and fuel supplies were unreliable. The guy looking into the issue has pulled out the fuel filter twice and didn't see any wear or muck in it that you wouldn't expect under normal circumstances.
Thanks Skidrov. Yeah, I've asked the guy looking after her to get me a price on the VCV. If it's affordable, I'll replace it. If it's rediculously expensive, we'll keep looking. I asked about the EGR valve as well, but that usually causes issues under power if it's faulty rather than at idle.
No worries. I assume the previous owner of mine was charged for replacement filters which were never fitted.
BTW a filter can be worn even though it looks okay. For $100 I figure it's worth every dollar for a new one. I keep spare fuel, oil and air filters in my travel spares. Landybits has service kits.
You can easily do it yourself, but remember to fill the filter with fuel before fitting it or your engine will chug for five minutes before enough fuel reaches it to start.
The upside is there is no fuel pump to fail. Keep it simple.
BTW if your EGR plays up a good long drive should make it hot enough to go into the burn cycle and clean itself. Mine doesn't do many short trips and the EGR is fine. If you stop after a drive and it sits there working for a bit after you stop the engine, that's a good thing.
I suspect fuel supply. EGR will put ECU in limp mode but not stall. EGR will throw a fault code. Same with SCV (VCV) unless it's dead. A dead or dying SCV will over fuel and lots of white smoke on start up. Can't mistake it. it will also throw a fault code related to injector cycles or fuel pressure. The SCV is used on about 30 vehicles. Source from Ford or Peugeot, its cheaper. Could be a dirty pick up in the tank (i had algae in my tank that blanketed the pick up), blockage in filter or in the fuel line. I've not had a fuel pump go so not sure of the symptoms (had nearly everything else go at some stage of ownership). if its a pump use the Ford Transit version. cheaper to buy than LR. Half my engine bay is Ford supplied parts.
