110 1999 Wagon Repaint colour pick.

    Hi all,
I hope everyone had a great Australia Day!

I am now repairing my 110 1999 td5 station Wagon. This includes door repairs, (rotten), and fixing the worn away paint.
The colour is currently white. It has a mixture of white colour as the doors have some time before my purchase been swapped off another white defender. I plan to paint the whole exterior. I don’t have any plans at the moment to do the inside but could be convinced with good argument to do that too.

    My questions are:

what colour white should I repaint it?
    What paint type?
    Which paint manufacturer?
A solid paint or one with clear coat?

    Thanks in advance.
    Chilly

Are you doing DIY respray or professional. If DIY stay well away from 2K paints unless you have a spay booth and forced air respirator.

Im doing a full DIY respray on my '49 Dodge , depending on how that goes (if Neighbours dont complain) will probably do my Series3 . Im using old fashioned 1K Acrylic Lacquer , without clear coat. I want it to look Authentic and oxidise quickly (a few years) to look aged. If you want gloss off the gun you can use spraying enamel but it runs and collects dust / bugs. If you want gloss from Acrylic Enamel you need elbow grease or clear coat.

I would like the car to have some shine to and be a bit brighter than the old dull whites. To look in a nice condition instead of the current three or four different colour whites. No need for creating an aged look on this. However on my series 1s then I have upset to decide on finish look goal. Interesting to read goingbush plans.

Picked up some paint for another job today so have picked up some Fuji White....so I am going with Concept paints Fuji white.

    Aston Martin China Grey

When it comes time to repaint my 2012 110, I’m seriously looking into Aston Martin China Grey.
Such a classy colour, and won’t get hot or show dust too much.
