I have just fitted a LOF shaft and clutch, both seem like great bits of kit. It has removed 99% of the backlash from my drivetrain and my original output shaft had no noticeable wear.

    Ashcroft Transmissions MT82 kit
*I've fitted quite a few (about 2 or 3 a month) of the Ashcroft kits (version 3, the red coupler) and pretty happy with the results.
*The Ashcroft kit the material from memory is round that 50 in hardness on the Rockwell scale.
*The original adaptor floats around 20 - 25 on the Rockwell scale, which is too soft.
*Also the customer support from Ashcroft Transmissions is pretty dam faultless, orders are never delayed and nothing is ever a problem.

    Clutches
*I'm now using ClutchFix kits, these seem nicely made and are at the top spec for clamping force, build quality that I am looking for.
*The LOF clutch kits again seem to be in that top end of good clutches, BUT (this is just a personal comment) I find LOF difficult to deal with.
*ALSO all the clutch manufacturers seem to be short of clutch material at the moment, I have run out of clutch kits and currently can't get anything.

    When doing a clutch on any Defender TDCi (2.4, 2.2) I always do and recommend replacing the below;
    LR068979 Cylinder Clutch Slave
    LR068981 Adapter
    LR068982 Valve Control
    LR004390 Spigot bearing
The Flywheel surprisingly enough are a good quality item and dont often need machining. As in very rare to see them with any signs of hot spots etc.

No warranty, mechanical breakdown insurance says it’s nit covered because I do my own oil changes.

    Tough day
I'm guessing they are the only Land Rover repairer in the area?

I like other repairers (Perth, W.A) do the complete clutch assembly and adaptor shaft for that price.

Both LOF and Ashcroft are excellent to deal with and top quality. Airfreight is super fast.

Whilst I dont have any direct feedback from myself not owning a Puma, we have sold a number of these since their release (always aim to have them in stock here locally)
Nothing but good reports back so far.

We are suppliers for Ashcroft gear as well, so I'm not bias at all, but the LOF kit to me anyway looks and feels way better out of the box, and also from not only a design perspective - but also cost!

Try Little Sams Service Station in Collingwood, they are highly recommended by friends and like Defenders!
