    Td5 130 Stopped...then eventually started....

    Hi all,

Our 2003 130 td5 decided that it’d stop on the way to the city this afternoon. I was travelling at 100kph and the engine shuddered, and we came to a rolling stop.
I turned the ignition off and back on, and cranked the motor, it started, took off....and stopped! This happened a few times until it wouldn’t start at all. After popping the bonnet, poking at a few sensors, and getting back behind the wheel to start it up, it roared back to life. Only temporarily, until I worked out it wouldn’t accept any throttle input above idle without conking out. So low range second gear for the 15 km trip back home. I eventually got it into high range and about 30kmh.
My question is, does this sound like it’d be a fuel pump or a fuel pressure regulator? Or something else altogether?
If I lived closer to the city i’d get it towed to see JC, but thats a little far from where I am!!

    Cheers, Bob

This behaviour is reminiscent of my manual TD5 D2's failed throttle position sensor while driving around afternoon peak hour Canberra traffic. I managed to get up enough speed to set cruise control then used CC to increase speed and to resume CC after having stopped. Not the smoothest way to drive especially in traffic but did the job and for several more days until a new TPS arrived in the mail.
