Just having a look back over the last 2 pages of this thread- I assumed from your response to my earlier post that you did not intend to travel across town except to collect your vehicle when it is finished, and then sit quietly at your accommodation in Carrum Downs until you could go home, but you have told the whole internet how you have traveled from Carrum Downs to Thomastown- about 65km from the far southern suburbs of Melbourne to the far northern suburbs, met up with people from that side of town and taken your car for a test drive, and then how you intend to clock up 1,000km during the remaining weeks of lockdown. You're traveling between a part of Melbourne with a relatively high covid case load (northern suburbs) and an area with a (so far) relatively low covid case load and undoubtedly interacting with people from both areas. It appears that you have traveled from interstate knowing that you were coming to a city that is struggling through severe restrictions, and have proceeded to thumb your nose at those restrictions, justifying it because you did a training course forty years ago? How could you imagine that you would not get called on this? I'm sure it would be very disappointing and frustrating to not pick up your beloved car, but it pales somewhat compared to others like my friends who could not attend their son's wedding in the same town, or others on here who have not been able to attend family funerals. I'm puzzled as to how your job in the 1980s or the photo with the mannequin bears on this? I'm very ready to be shown how your actions are ok in the current situation, but I just cannot see it at present.

If it’s within the states regulations, then it is exactly that. There are a nuances in people’s perceptions of what the rules are, so make it clear.
I’m sure if Ken is doing the wrong thing, then he will get picked up by the authorities. I don’t believe attacking someone on an online Land Rover forum is necessary, or in the spirit of the forum.
Whenever Ken gets his LS3 powered Defender, i’m sure it will be a welcome distraction to the negative news we are receiving daily.
Each to their own, unless the are harming others. And if Ken was to harm someone by his actions then I’m sure the authorities would catch up with him and question his actions. I’m sure Ken is aware of that.

    Cheers, Bob

    Take a deep breath POD

    POD;

I've not broken, nor will I ever any Quarantine laws, having met the requirements of your state government on the day, and you are being very liberal with your comments in your post below re my presumptive actions.

I will be given my vehicle to put the test kms on once finished next week (unless relevant higher level lock down laws are in place), and aren't about to drive 1000kms in lockdown, nor did I say I would. I plan to head Nth (out of Victoria if that pleases you) as soon as VIC, NSW and QLD lift travel restrictions, and have no time issues to return to Tassie. In the mean time, I plan to mod its interior, cut/polish and Ceramic coat the vehicle in my sisters garage at her home, without ever leaving its fence. (I bought the gear on line from REPCO today with delivery, so didn’t go shopping.)

I've been in Victoria for 9 days now, and have left my sisters place once, to discuss and test drive the vehicle with the workshop. The photo was to just show that I've unique experience with bugs, and high level formal training in infectious disease control (up until 2012 as well as extensive Military NBC training), so not about to knowingly put the community at risk. By the way, it would be very unprofessional to show a photo with a real patient.

I feel I don't need to bog this thread down further, if you have a burning need to COVID19 shame someone, Im sure there's higher performers out there than me, but fill your boots if your not coping at present.

Either way, enjoy driving your Land Rover to Woolies POD, I actually don't have to, having priority delivery status!

    Ken

Quite the opposite, silver hair, one of the bosses, smoked a pipe.

He may have been at the CDC in Atlanta when you were at Fairfield.

    cheers, DL

Give me a year when you were there and I'll work it out.

Sounds quite early in the AIDS pandemic........... when you could get the virus from ..........'anything'.

    I think it was 84-to early 88.

I remember a big health strike, the Hoddle Street shooter, Etc, but yes, HIV AIDS was a huge thing. Ward 4 was the HIV/AIDS/HEP B ward, and the Tank Respirators/ICU was in a separate wing to the main buildings, with the Human Isolation Unit was again in a separate building of its own.

I moved on to the ADF in 88.

Remember having to get tested there around the time you worked at Fairfield. I was doing a bit of work in schools and had contact with a student who unfortunately died from meningitis.
The hospital I work at took a few of the long term patients when Fairfield closed down.

Look forward to updates on your new toy when you can get to play.
