    Hole for reversing camera

    Hi All,

Well I've taken the plunge with regards to the double DIN upgrade, and one aspect of that is having front and rear cameras for parking, and potentially, offroading. The front camera is easier in terms of wiring, but for the rear I wanted to mount it high next to the rear window washer jet. This position would either require running wiring through the taillight grommet area, up behind the ladder and across the roofline in the sill, or just punch a hole out next to the washer and run it through the cabin and out the hole.

I guess im just nervous about putting a hole in the car. But since I've gone to all the trouble of the double DIN upgrade there will always be a rear camera regardless of if it fails or I change head units down the road so I feel its worth it for a much neater finish. Just got to make sure its well sealed since these cars are virtually airtight from the factory :P

    Thoughts and opinions please!

Have you considered mounting lower? I’ve just finished the install on Mrs Tombies D90 and this worked a treat.

    Number Plate Light With Camera

Not cheap, but solves several issues.
    1) Camera
    2) LED light
    3) Fading / Cracking light housing as the plastic is junk!

Standard camera mounted without adding a hole to the car, other then the plastic mounting block for the number plate light

    You could...

Remove trim panel where washer jet sits,
    Remove washer jet,
Make a mount to hold camera,
Slightly enlarge a corner of the hole,
    Run camera cable,
Refit washer (with a bit of sealant) and use it to hold your bespoke mount and camera.

I've got mine in the same place.

This is the view I get (tow ball just in the bottom right corner).
