TD5 Oil Pick-Up Tube O-Ring Size
Here is another mystery for you guys. What is the size of the o-ring for the TD5 suction pipe? I ordered a lower-gasket set from Craddock and they sent over all BritPart parts (great)...I am kinda stuck with it now (I did order a separate oil pan gasket that is All-Makes and will use that) and need to get this engine assembled. Wanted to go by the hardware store.
O-Ring Info
The Britpart came with an O-Ring that is loose on the suction pipe groove. It is too big in my opinion. Is is bigger then what came off.
Existing ID 20.7X mm OD 23.9X-24.1X mm Thickness 1.5-1.55 mm (OD and ID are approx due to o-ring being distorted)
Britpart ID 22mm OD 25mm Thickness 1.67 (odd thickness)
So I went back to the parts.
The metal machined hole measures just under 24 mm (23.6X-23.9X) on the oil pan girdle depending on where I measure. I didnt get a solid 24mm reading with the calipers.
The suction pipe groove measures just under 21 mm (20.8-20.9). I didnt get a solid 21mm reading with the calipers.
The old o-ring itself measures 1.57-1.63 mm in thickness (no idea if it is OEM).
So now I am trying to size this O-Ring.
1.6 mm Buna O-Rings dont come in a 21/24 size.
Closest size is 20.1/23.3
1.5 mm Buna O-Rings come in 3 close sizes
20.5/23.5 (ID is a nice fit but OD too small?)
21/24 (OD is good but ID might be loose?)
21.5/24.5 (ID/OD too big, feel like the O-ring will squeeze and distort)
What do you guys think? Should I just got with the 1.5/21/24?

Thanks.
