    Alpine windows on a 110

Has anybody added alpine windows to a 110 roof? a friend has some series 3 alpine windows he is prepared to give me.
Would it be as simple as tracing around the glass and adding a couple mm to take into account the rubber seal or am i setting
myself up for never ending water leaks.

I don't think they are likely to leak, but they are sure to give you corrosion issues. Unless you give them constant maintenance.

    Cheers Glen.

    Defender roof is aluminium.
Disco's corrode around the Alpine windows but I haven't seen it in Defenders. Mine is '95 with no issues and no 'maintenance'.

Is there a reason for installing?......I never noticed any benefit of having them when I had a 110 wagon.

You need to be a rear passenger. Because the rear seats in a wagon are higher than the fronts the Alpine windows allow a tall person to look out rather than stare at the headlining.

You can also look UP at the mountains, hence the term Alpine Windows......

I've had corrosion repaired twice around the alpine windows on my 2012 90.
Perhaps the later model preparation & painting isn't as good as the older models.

Must be the case as I've never seen it with a Series roof or earlier Defenders.
    Cost cutting no doubt....

Food for thought, maybe the concept of this installation might be easier, and give a much greater benefit?

I'd love it, but the summer sun here in Australia would turn the defender into a oven

Yeah, might turn the back into an oven.

I think i might give it a miss. I need to make head-linings for the two rear panels so leaving them out will save effort.

I currently have a 3 door 110, but my daughter is starting to get older and having the three of us across the front is getting a little cramped.
i am starting the process of adding seats to the forward rear section, so the reason for doing was mainly to brighten up the rear load space.

I have also noticed the later model Defenders having corrosion form around the alpine windows. One of my friends had her 110 roof painted
under body warranty for this exact reason.
