My RTV sold for $6200 in February with 300,000KM on it and I had it listed for $8500 which I thought was extremely optimistic but what similar vehicles were being listed for. I would have been happy with $2500.00 18 months earlier given I only paid $14K in 2012 with 40,000 km on it.
I'm seeing 130s listed for up to $65K which is what mine was new but I reckon that's a bit optimistic, maybe $55k is somewhere closer to the market.
Having said that the RRS I payed $80k for last October now appears to be worth $90K with another 20,000km on it.......

These price increases for Landys are nothing new.
I remember the first Landy I bought, a 1958 Series 1 Hardtop, for $375 and sold 4 months later for $750. Admittedly, that was 55 years ago and I rebuilt the gearbox and front N/S hub (at no cost to me as Dealer, Moores Motors, agreed prior to purchase to supply all parts needed FOC) and I resprayed it also. So it was in considerably better condition when I sold it.
I then bought my second Landy from Armidale Uni, an early Series II LWB Ute with aftermarket canopy for $750. Put it up for sale 15 months later having overhauled the brake master cylinder and given it a polish, for $1500 and had two wantabe owners arrive to inspect it at the same time. I left them on the footpath to sort it out between themselves and ended up getting $1550 for it! It was one of the best buys and trouble free Landy's I have owned.
That was all back in the days when very few new Landys were sold privately, most were bought by Govt. Departments, Mining and development companies ....... and Uni's. Things slowed down a lot when the 4WD boom hit in the seventies and private buyers started buying new 4WD's.
It's good to see the current situation with Landys though and after owing my current Td5 Defender I feel I could still get close to what I paid for it 15 years ago - but not considering selling the well set up, reliable vehicle in the near future.
