Gearbox oil
Hi all. Defender 300tdi manual R380 gearbox. The Haynes manual says to use ATF to M2C33. Now, I know that it says ATF because at the time there weren’t MTFs around that worked well with the synchro (or that’s what I can tell from research?) and I know most use a good MTF instead now. Question is what does M2C33 mean? 10W40? I can’t find any oils anywhere that say M2C33 on them so I don’t know what it correlates to.. any help would be appreciated!

Not sure what M2C33 means ... but I use Penrite Pro-Gear 75W-85 (Fully Synthetic) 2.5-2.8ltrs in my R380's at the moment, although will likely switch to Motul Gear 300 in all the LT230, R380 and both diffs at the next major service to reduce the number of different oils in the shed.
