A 2.4 defender MY 08 of my friends went into limp mode or loss of power with no warning lights. Thinking it was lack of fuel I put a new fuel filter on it and he got it home about 5 k's and said it was ok. Then he went about 10 k's to get fuel and on the way home, when he says it got warm, it went into limp mode with the engine light on. He said it appeared to be lack of fuel again.
Question what do I look for next and will my nanocom evolution for my MY 12 work on it to do a diagnosis on it. We don't have any independent service people around here so I am just helping him out as he wishes to sell it soon.

If your nanocom works on your 2012 it should work similarly on the 2008
If the engine check light is on definitely read the codes for a start on diagnosis
Before the initial power cut did the engine stagger a few times ? Was it indeed low/out of fuel ?
