    bullbar + steering guard + recovery points ... pick 2?

    Apologies if this has been done to death... searched and searched with no clear answer suiting 2021 parts availability...

    I'm keen on getting a steering guard fitted to the 110. I have an ARB deluxe bull bar fitted.

    Steering guard will require me to lose my jate rings and think of an alternate solution for front recovery points, hence i'm keen on steering guards featuring an integral recovery eyes (most of them, e.g. Terrafirma's - pictured below)

    ... however all of the steering guard designs i've seen feature mounting plates with forward-protruding recovery eyes, which will foul my bullbar mounting brackets in the area shown.

    Apparently APT used to do a guard compatible with an ARB bar, but have now stopped fabricating these.

    Any other solutions?

    The Front Runner steering guard looks like it will fit with the bullbar ... but this leaves me without forward recovery points

    When APT stopped making steering guards I designed my own.
    They have integrated recovery points.
    The one in the pic is fitted with one of my bars, but I have fitted them with an ARB bar.
    I have these in stock $395 + postage.

    Highly recommend the rijidij steering guard . Have it fitted to my Tdi 130, with TJM bar , quality piece of gear. Murray is great to deal with. Picture is before I cut off the bull bar tie down rings to better access the recovery points on the guard.

    Perfect. I'd be happy for one of those. Looked on the website in fact but mustn't be on there yet.

    Do you have any images with an ARB bar? It looks to me like the recovery point is angled down from the chassis location, and this is how it is accessed with the bullbar in place, is that correct?

    For reference, an alternate view of the bullbar position relative to the chassis... just so i know the recovery point will be accessible enough to get a shackle on

    APT replacement

    I think Wildbear4x4 do one that looks identical to APT.

    I think I bought the last APT one from a supplier in Sydney last year. It was sitting on his shelf collecting dust.

    The one from rijidij looks good.

    I found some pics of one we fitted with an ARB bar.

    From memory, we didn't need do modify anything with the ARB, it bolted straight up.

    A couple that were fitted with TJM bars needed a minor modification to the jacking tubes on the bar because they clashed slightly with mounting brackets.
    It only involved cutting a small amount off the inner end of the jacking tube, so it's not something that's seen.

    So I got Murray's steering guard and here's my install. Its a nicely made kit and i'm happy with the outcome, so thanks Murray.

    As suspected, I did have to remove some material from my ARB bullbar to get it to fit (circled areas)... possibly not all installs are the same. The ARB bar attachment bracket are a little crude... why obscure the area forward of the chassis rails, when this will clearly be the favoured area for recovery points to be attached?

    I lost a little material from the brackets, but so be it... they're still heavier duty than the chassis rails IMO

    Anyway, it's done, and I can get recovery shackles on.... *just*!
