TD5 "EGR Valve Stuck Closed" fault - without an EGR - why?

    Hey brains trust.

I removed the EGR valve at the start of the year and I've recently being getting "EGR Valve Stuck Closed" faults showing up on the Nanocom. Any idea what might be causing this? When I removed the EGR I removed the controller thingy and blanked the vacuum line.

The engine seems to be working fine and I'm happy to ignore it but am concerned that it may be caused by something else that will become a problem!

    It's a 2000 TD5 130 with the original (non-programable) ECU.

    Phil

If you've blanked it there could be a difference in air pressure causing a fault code, from reports I've read. Does the blank have a hole in the middle to let air pressures equalise?

The bit I've blanked is the T piece on the vacuum pipe that runs to the brake servo - that really doesn't want to have an air leak in it!

I removed all the other EGR vacuum pipes and removed the EGR controller thingy (I think the technical term is a vacuum solenoid) which is where I would have expected the EGR faults to be detected.

If it's a 10P engine and if my memory serves you may be able to stop the fault from occurring by disconnecting the MAF. On a 10P engine the MAF is not used for fueling - it's function is to govern the EGR.

    That's all if I remember it right - I've now got a 16P so I can't test it.

Whoops, forgot about that. The OP fault is on a 130 so I’m assuming it’s a manual.

I had a 10P Defender and without MAF drove like a pig.
