Remote Central Locking for Defender Td5 130

Hi, have searched past threads but couldn’t find an answer to my exact question.

I recently purchased a 2003 Td5 Defender 130. It has central locking that operates with the key from the drivers door. What do I need to add to convert to remote central locking?

A random google found this SECURITY CENTRAL LOCK KITS AND PARTS

You should be able to do it reasonably cheaply, basically all you need is the remote control kit and an actuator for one door.

I got a very basic D1 Tdi, no frills and joys(of playing up! )

Same deal, key only central locking.

I was trawling via ebay to find a kit to add a remote(with fobs and stuff).

Rewiring into the existing central locking was half easy, half confusing.
Just added the kits wiring into the std wiring section and it only worked in one way at a time depending on how I wired the kit to the cars loom.
it would either only lock or only unlock, but not both at the same time.
Took me a long while to figure it out adding diodes and stuff like that.
But it was the simplest of answers to the problem .. just pull the fuse for the central locking in the cars fuse box. Problem solvered!

Over the course of the next month or so tho, each of the central locking solenoids on each door started to die out one by one.

That was maybe 5 or 6 years ago now, and having bought the entire kit system, the initially useless solenoids all came in handier than first thought.
The kit solenoids fit exactly into the same screw holes the original LR solenoids do too.

Having loooked through ebay for kits, and all in the $15-$20 range .. I got my kit from Supercheap they had them 'on special' at $19(so I bought two).

Stupid(in hindsight) ... their kits have the worst remote fob type. They break the lanyard end easily and use a very small 12v battery(A27) that just doesn't last long, and not easy to find when it does die out. Better to avoid this kit at the least.
    Arthur.
