Defender Td5 Passenger door adapter so that the door opens 90°

    Hi all,

Got a blind pup and he sits in the back. it would be nice to open the door a bit wider as I need to lift him in and out.

Did a bit of searching last night but could not find the brackets here in aus that will allow the door to open wider, does anyone know where I can find a set.

    Thanks

    J

MULGO used to do them but its not on their website anymore.
(as in a flat plate with 2 holes in it)

    Plenty in the U.K though

I assume it's the second row passenger seats you're referring to and if my assumption is correct then.................

All you need to do is to elongate (I simply used a round file) the two mounting holes on the OE bracket that's on the rear of the front seat box. Then reattach it so that it sits a little further out. Be careful not to overdo it or the door will dent the 'B" pillar when fully open.

This is possibly why Mud & Mulgo stopped marketing what was an over complicated modification to achieve the same result.
I'm not knocking Mud or Mulgo's products, they have a lot of very well made accessories but I'm afraid that their door 'extenders' wasn't one of them.

Its prolly because people fitted them to the wrong Defender models.
Towards the end of production, the doors opened wider and didnt need any mods.

Also people fitted them loose, you need to see where the door finishes and tighten up the plate.
