    Puma heater/aircon blower

    Hi,
    So my heater fan blew some white smoke out the vents and now I only have the #3 position on the fan working. I figured the fan blower was buggered as it has had some dust in it and was making a bit of noise for the past 6 months, so I replaced it with a new blower/fan assembly, however that hasn't fixed the issue, still havnt got speeds 1 and 2- aircon still works..any ideas of where else to look, cheers

    My guess is...

    JGM500020 - Heater resistor

    back into that blower fan, its on the outside of the fan housing right in the corner, and can be replaced in situ

    We had exactly the same symptoms in our 2012 90 but the diagnosis was a blown motor JGB50005 (reputable Indy in Sydney) which was $474 plus fitting 4 years ago.

    I paid $525 for a genuine one, so was a bit PO that it wasn't the issue..but it got rid of the noisy fan..some plus I guess

    How did you find the fitting job, ie how much stuff did you need to move?

    I found it a lot harder than you might think, given the amount of stuff to be moved out of the way... Hoping there's a better answer...

    If #3 is still working then the motor is probably OK. All that is blown are the "speed" resistors. They will the
    things that let the smoke out. Find those and change out with commercially available similarly rated power (or bigger) and resistance values.

    Very easy, and no need to remove the whole AC /fan unit. Just undo the duct from the top guard, and slide it all the way forward, 3 nuts hold the unit onto the bulkhead, and the unit can be pushed up and towards the motor to give access to the blower motor and resistors. Its a fiddly job, but not too difficult.
