Copper Bits & Pieces found inside my old TC - What causes this?
Guys...
I just recently had my TC swapped out for a reconditioned one and when we removed the inspection plate on my old one it had a fair bit of copper bits & pieces scattered throughout the TC. The copper pieces obviously came from the cone copper washers inside the Centre Diff. My old TC still worked fine but had a fair bit of backlash in it.
This is the 2nd TC that I've seen this copper scattered throughout the TC and I was surprised to see it in mine...
Question: Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it from happening to my newly reconditioned TC?
(Note: CDL has always been engaged when heading offroad)

It's a design feature
They just chew the thrust washers.
I've been told by old hands that even a one off episode of wheel spin without the TC locked will result in what you've found.
And all the more reason to fit an ATB as a replacement centre.
