    Can Only One Spring Fail!

    Hello all

    My Defender 130 has a lean to the left. It is apparent to anyone that has a cursory glance. I have a 40l Engel that has replaced the rear left seat and an auto-tune antenna on the left of the bumper bar however when I sit in the car (105kg) it still leans to the left. I have measured from the ground to chassis and it is around 25mm lower on the left. The colour coded factory springs are all in the correct place and I have new shocks all round. When I lower the car off my hoist, and the springs take the weight of the car, three corners stabalise but the left keeps dropping as the hoist drops. I hope I've explained that correctly - my question is - could it be possible that only the left rear spring has sagged? I could change springs from one side to the other but I have them clamped top and bottom and it's a reasonable job. The car is away at the paint shop for a week or so and thought I could order some new springs if you guys think that is the fix. Someone also suggested that the chassis could be bent! Any advice would be appreciated.

    I should add that I put a temporary spacer ring in the top of the left spring (about an inch or so thick) and it has perfectly levelled the car.

    ^^ it's most likely the spring, but it's easy to check, measure the heights of both rear springs in the vehicle.. Unless there is substantial weight difference between sides (which it sounds like there isn't) they should be pretty close.

    Thanks guys, sounds like the spring is the likely culprit. I will pull the spacer out when the car returns and measure the springs in situ.

    Pre Puma Land Rovers had a slight lean to one side owing to the different springs fitted to the driver's and passenger sides.
