if you're confused , before you do anything else , check your driveshafts and/or axles
you can isolate each point to see where your backlash actually is.
My 94 110 300tdi Defender has a backlash issue.
What are the part numbers for the front and rear diffs.
EG. TBB000250 or TBBOOO270?

Recheck the part numbers looks like they have been superseded

If you have backlash in a Defender even it’s done over 4-500 thousand ks you don’t need the part numbers for both diffs
Start with the rear axles and flanges they are the most likely suspects
If they are ok I would be looking at the centre diff as the shims will be loose or absent
Then if it’s been abused the front diff pin would be next you can see this through the oil level hole
The Salisbury rear can be reshimmed if needed
As for the front rover diff just buy a good second hand one and put a tru track or Ashcroft ATB in it if it has been abused to destruction
Sometimes a cv can cause issues as well while the front end is apart you will find this
All this is provided the vehicle has been serviced and actually has oil in its driveline
What you need is a good Land Rover focused independent workshop
