Replacement Gear Knob for 300Tdi Defender

Some time back my stock knob failed and I replaced it with an ebay cheapy-ish 'fit one fit all' type of thing along these lines.

Unsurprisingly that's now broken and I'm looking for an affordable replacement that might last.

The various metal alloy versions out there seem OK on the face of it (aside from being way too expensive) but surely they'd get really hot?

So that leaves me with getting a replacement OEM style from somewhere like here for $31 shipped or... any other / better ideas?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I have got used to mine rotating & being loose. I have thought of using a large nutsert & maybe Araldite to be sure, but I'm yet to get motivated.

    I bought one Oct 2021 from Karcraft - BTR9270 <B> $9.44+GST + freight.

I still have it on the shelf, as I ended up filing a small amount from the 'points' of a 1/2UNF nut (that I had) , and lightly hammered it into the knob (interference fit), you can resurrect a knob with a stuffed thread that is otherwise OK. Been fine for the last few months at least.

I'm sure someone else recently had same problem and had to fit a knob with the shift pattern on it to get it registered.

    Ring a bell anyone?

I did... but my spectrum tells me it needs to be straightened.....

They are both solid alloy and you can get them in silver or black... I went silver

Should be all over ebay or Amazon I would think...

It is an ADR requirement for the gear pattern to be displayed.
I don't know if it has to be in the gear knob, I work with a young bloke who defected, not long ago, for his after market gear knob.
I can only assume he failed the initial attitude test Replacement Gear Knob for 300Tdi Defender

My TombRaider has a metal knob that gets cold in winter but not hot at all, not even in summer. Looks good, doesn't break and is the icing on the cake (so to speak).
    Defender Gear Knob
Should be available in your neck of the woods as well somewhere.
    Cheers mate!
