I don't know much about hubs and stubs(other than having renewed my bearings and stubs on my D1(same type) ... but looking at the image of the wear mark on the stub, looks more like a manufacturing defect in the form of a high spot that interfered with the hub.
If the worn bearing were to cause interference between hub and stub, you'd think that the metal to metal contact patch would be a circular one all round(or partly all way around .. or whatever) ... not just the one small spot as in your image.
