Track Rod Length and Tie Rod Ends

Hi all my tie rod ends are screwed all the way into each end of my track rod as far as they can go and this gives me overall length between the ball centres 1230mm. I would like to adjust my track to at least parallel or slightly toe out as per the spec. in the manual however I can’t screw the track rod any further to shorten it as the ends are already wound all way in at both ends. Is it possible the track rod bar is too long are there different lengths supplied?

Currently when wind track rod in as far as can go my track is approximately 8mm toe in. Any thoughts on leaving the alignment at incorrect 8mm in?

Additionally the new tie rod ends are threaded all the way to the ball and they are clamped on the ends when wound in. I believe that when using the tie rod with clamp ends the tie rod ends should have a machined shoulder so the bar clamps around a flat surface and not over the thread is this a problem?

    85 County, Isuzu

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Track Rod Length and Tie Rod Ends

8mm toe in will be a nightmare to drive.

A shop adjusted mine to 6mm toe in and if felt dangerous on tie hi-way

Oh your going to cop some heat with the SHS welded to the track rod……no bigggie as I’ve done it a few time to get 110’s back from exercise.

I’d be planning around getting a new track rod that doesn’t have the clamps and uses lock nuts.

Have you installed the track rod onto the county and checked alignment or have you only done it on the bench.

Thanks W&KO. I wound both ends on the bench as tight as I could go to make the track rod as short as possible. Then installed on the county and the result was about 8mm toe in. Need to shorten the rod to get alignment al least to parallel. Looks like need to get a new track rod……
