Indicators died - both LH and RH - fuses OK - Where to look?

    It's a Def 110 300TDi.

The fuses looked ok, but I took them out and they tested ok for continuity.

All other electricals seem ok, in particular the horn, highbeam flash and dip on the same switch.

Hazzard lights work with ignition on or off, providing the LH or RH indicators are engaged.

I thought I heard a clunk like a fuse blowing, but could have been mistaken.

    Where do I look?

    Thanks

    Don.
Ahhh brilliant, that would explain the clunk I heard from down there. Never gave it a thought! I haven't changed a flasher unit for decades.
    Will check it out tomorrow.
    Thanks Don

    Fault traced to Hazard switch

    • I'm posting this for the record in case someone else has this problem with indicators
    • the flasher relay tested perfectly
    • then, accidently, I discovered that the hazard lights worked only when the indicator switch was activated - either LH or RH
    • so I disassembled the hazard switch and found a copper spring bar stuck and not dis-engaging
    • unstuck the copper spring, re-lubricated all the moving parts and reassembled the switch
    • and indicators are working perfectly!

I was going to suggest the hazard switch. I once replaced mine with a non genuine but it didn't last long. Ended up fixing the original one.
