Also 10-32 UNF is the same as M5.

The knobs are 5mm blind hole aluminium knurled thumb nuts 16mm diameter * 20mm high (got red because they're faster) and matched with M5 60mm stainless steel exhaust studs.

Stuck the studs in a drill press to file a point on them to allow them to find the hole better and then loctite'd them to the knobs.

Links to Ebay would help others, I like the solution.

Here's some links to the specific items but, when they eventually die, searching the descriptions should also yield results.

One of my captive nut threads was mangled from a PO using a random bolt to hold the cover on, so I ran a standard 5mm tap through it to clean it up. The other thread was fine and the 5mm studs screw into both now easy as.

I think you will find that 2BA and 5mm will readily interchange - but the threads are not making very good contact.

    Cheap standard thumb screws

Just got a couple standard 5mm x 40mm steel knurled thumb screws from an engineering supplier on ebay, perfect fit. I'm sure similar would be available in Aus.

    Best wishes from Scotland
